Turkish Restaurant near Covent Garden, Bloomsbury & Holborn

Two stops on the Central line from Tottenham Court Road, then sixty seconds on James Street to a proper Turkish kitchen.

Turkish mixed grill at Grand Bazaar London, two stops on the Central line from Covent Garden

Covent Garden sits on the eastern side of central London — across the West End from us — but the route is faster than the geography suggests. From the Piazza, walk up Long Acre to Tottenham Court Road tube, take two stops on the Central line to Bond Street, and exit 3 surfaces directly opposite Grand Bazaar on James Street. Door to door is around twenty minutes; on a Saturday afternoon it's quicker than the bus and a great deal quicker than a cab.

On foot the walk is under fifteen minutes if you cut up through Soho — Long Acre, Seven Dials, Soho Square, Hanover Square, Bond Street — and is one of the more pleasant central walks once you're off Oxford Street. From Bloomsbury (Russell Square, the British Museum, the LSE), the same route takes about twenty minutes via Bedford Square and Soho. From Holborn it's similar; from St Giles and the High Holborn end of Tottenham Court Road, around fifteen.

The room is built for the kind of share table Covent Garden, Bloomsbury and Holborn diners tend to put together. The cold mezze board — humus, haydari, kisir, ezme, dolma and baba ganoush — anchors a long lunch, with warm bread brought to order. Hot mezze brings sigara börek, grilled halloumi, falafel and grilled octopus. The chargrill carries lamb shish, chicken shish, lamb chops, the Grand Bazaar mixed grill for two, lahmacun and a proper iskender layered over toasted pide bread.

Theatre tables work well from us if the show is West End-side. We're roughly equidistant to the Donmar, the Adelphi and the Aldwych by cab, but for the Royal Opera House we recommend booking pre-theatre at 17:30 or 18:00 and walking back via Hanover Square and Soho — about twenty minutes, and quicker than waiting for a Central line train at peak rush. The kitchen finishes service at 22:30 every day, so post-show on a weeknight is workable too.

We're open every day until 22:30, including Sundays and bank holidays. The kitchen is fully halal on the meat side, and the room is family-friendly throughout the day. Walk-ins are welcome at quieter hours, but Saturday evenings book out a week in advance, particularly for groups of six or more. To plan ahead, view the full menus or reserve a table online — confirmation arrives by email within minutes, and we'll hold the right table shape for the size of the party.
