Turkish Restaurant for Fitzrovia, W1
A six-minute walk from Wigmore Street and the Fitzrovia edge of Cavendish Square to a Turkish kitchen open every day until 22:30.
Fitzrovia and Marylebone meet at Wigmore Street, Wimpole Street and the eastern edge of Cavendish Square. Grand Bazaar sits on the Marylebone side of that line, on James Street, but for most Fitzrovia diners we're a five- to seven-minute walk: cross Marylebone Lane, head south through Wigmore Street past the Wigmore Hall, and the pedestrianised arch into St Christopher's Place is the next opening on your right. We're at number 22, with the dining room and the chargrill straight ahead.
BBC Broadcasting House on Portland Place, the consultant offices around Harley Street, the small media studios around Newman Street and the Charlotte Street agency cluster all use us for lunches and early dinners. The kitchen is open every day until 22:30, the meat menu is fully halal, and the room handles tables of two through to fifteen comfortably. Walk-ins at lunch and on weekday early evenings are usually fine; for Thursday and Friday dinner please reserve online a few days ahead.
The Fitzrovia table tends to look like this: a cold mezze board for the table — humus, haydari, kisir, ezme, dolma, baba ganoush — with warm bread brought to order, sigara börek and grilled halloumi from the hot mezze list, and one or two main grills shared between three or four people. Lamb shish, chicken shish, the mixed grill for two, manti with garlic yogurt, iskender layered over toasted pide. Lahmacun, rolled around fresh parsley and lemon, works as a starter or as a quick lunch on its own.
Walking distances from Fitzrovia: Wimpole Street is four minutes, Mortimer Street is around ten, Charlotte Street twelve, Goodge Street tube fourteen, the BT Tower fifteen, Tottenham Court Road tube about sixteen. By tube it's even simpler — the Central line carries you one stop from Tottenham Court Road or Oxford Circus to Bond Street, where exit 3 surfaces directly opposite our pavement. Black taxis use James Street as a shortcut, so a drop-off works at peak times too.
We have 42 covers inside and 75 covers outside on the pedestrianised section of St Christopher's Place. In summer the outside tables carry most of the lunchtime trade from Fitzrovia regulars; in winter the inside dining room is dim and warm, with the chargrill audible from most seats. The breakfast menu — a full serpme kahvalti — runs until 4pm, which makes us a useful late-morning option for nearby studios and consultancies. Reserve online for confirmation in minutes, or view the full menus first.
